Maine Moose Hunt 1988. Son Andrew to left of me and son Jason on other side of moose.  Moose dressed 465. 3 shots to head and neck...no apparent affect on the moose...one quartering shot through the boiler room and he went down.  This posting pictures is like calling moose...didn't know I could do it until I got instruction and tried it out. I'll next post about the 2004 moose hunt and the boys will be 16 years older.

Samchap,  I hope you meant 1998.  If that photo was taken in 1988 and those kids are 16 years old now, I want some of whatever they're takin'.   Nice moose, and I bet it was good eating.

Mr. Mom......

I did it with two pulleys...one in the truck and one on the horns of the moose. I've got picture of it on the 950 pounder  we just got...I've got to reduce the size of the picture files before  can show them.

Here is the pulling rig... ATV supplies the pulling power.

I should be doing this in another posting for my hunt story. I now know that that will take a while to do. Tomorrow maybe.

Nice pics.  Looks like and engineering project with the double pulley system, works great.

That is one hell of a meat pole that you have it hanging from.

congratulations again, nice bullwinkle.

The tagging station is set-up to weigh the moose they tag for a $20 fee. On the first weighing my moose weighed 1020#, when the gal who tagged the moose did it. Then one of the owners sons said "Wait a minute...let me do that.". Then the weight changed to 950#. Whatever.......  They take a tooth and at some point I'll get a biological report on the moose from the state IF&W.

Samchap, way to go.     Will you be able to go after another moose?  Or just one a year?   Good job on the pics.

(Now I've got my reading glasses on and I see you said the kids would be 16 years older, not 16 years old.)

Looks like the gut pile was bigger than some of the deer I've shot.

Gunrunner....I have to sit out as a permitee for two years and lose all my accumulated points, but......I can be a shooting alternate. Heck I didn't get a good shot at this one and I had a swell time. so....just being able to be one of the shooters is a good thrill. Having my boys and their children along is the big enjoyment. Having my grandson tearing around in his uncles and aunts homes [mothers side] calling moose and getting his cousins to do it too, puts a big grin on my face.

This is a picture of my first deer I have ever shot.He was about 40 yards from me when I shot him.In the picture is my guide Matt Holly from

Austin Texas who helped pick out the spiked buck I shot.My dad sighted my gun for me and he had it dead on the money. This is my trophy and some pics from my hunt on the Walker Ranch in Cherokee Texas.
