I've had a couple of really good sits on stand down here in God's country... even saw a real shooter buck sparing with a small eight at about 20-yards. It was getting dark and hard to see in the river bottom. Heard the click-click-click of horns and found them with my binoculars. Really exciting! I tried clicking my arrows together as I have rattled in and shot a couple of bucks doing just that. The problem was it had just gotten too dark in the bottom.
I'm seeing lots of does, bucks, turkeys, and hogs but the hunting doesn't get hopping until the third week of October and then the critters come out of the woodwork!

Well, yeah. Here's from 2001...Neither one is really a mature bull though. The big one is probably 4 1/2 and the other is 3 1/2 years old. There are a lot bigger bulls in the area I hunt. A mature bull would have ivory tips and no left over velvet by the time of year I'm after them. I'm plenty happy with the large, but less mature bulls. They provide great meat and are a blast to hunt. One day I'll cross paths with a monster, it's only a matter of time and their bad luck...:)
