That is quite the turn-around! The only place where i can see a similiarity is the blemish that is on the trigger!

There's a couple of spots where there was some light pitting still visible... like on the slide stop and one the tip of the safety, etc. I had put a new barrel in this pistol too and a full length guide rod, too.

Shot a box of mixed hardball and 200 gr lead semi-wadcutters thru it about a month ago and despite the 'crapo' nubby sites it still grouped well for a 1911 made up of mostly military parts... I'm eventually going to get some hi-viz 3-dot sites installed on the slide and that will just about do it for this one. The 'donor' pistol in above condition was a 'freebee' from a friend. All I had to pay for was the refinish. The barrel, guide-rod, new stocks & stock screws were already in the 'parts box'.

'Course, if one was going to keep a 1911 around just for 'home protection' you'd be hard pressed to do better than a basic, no frills one like above with a new barrel & full length guide-rod. No hollow-points needed... just a loaded mag with hardball and a couple of spares... One could do worse, I think...
