Savage Arms 17HMR FXP Package

We went and got it today, have to wait till Wednesday to shoot it. We got a sling and a box of shells at the same time, $380 all in.
It fits her well and she likes it. I can see gophers in the air in her future.

She shoots her uncles CZ 17 light out to 150 yards.
I do know we need another clip and a bit of traning to load her own.

D how come we are noy getting older, while she seems to be getting taller?

Now all she needs is a target rich environment......  PDs.

"Now all she needs is a target rich environment......  PDs."

Got that but it's hunting season. It's hard to carve out a day to go shoot little dogs.
I did find a ranch near by with a huge coyote problem. There coming in to the yard and eating the domestic dog food on the porch, and some chickens.
They don't "hunt" so I have to get out there soon and see if we can kill a few or at least scare them real bad... My boy will be back next week and the four of us will be after them but "ANNY" will use her 6.5 Grendel for that, more trigger time deer is just a few weeks away.
This Wednesday is early out at school we will go sight in the new 17.

Is the 17 HMR enough for coyotes? If so I can see some of them in her future too.
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

If its close, her first coyote was with a 10/22 and about 5 hits...
Makes a better gopher killer. P dogs if there under 150 yards and no wind.
She has her 6.5 Grendel for big dogs and deer.

I am starting to understand.

My oldest Granddaughter is about the same age as Annie. When she became a teenager she started having "other commitments".

Like Bear said, I wish we could keep them young.

OK she was home "sick" today and got feeling better and wanted some air, SOOOO.
I loaded up the targets and guns, with ammo.
Where we shoot is like 3 miles to gravel the 4 more miles to our spot. I got to the gravel and stopped and turn the drive over to the GD. She does a very good job driving. Got to our spot and set up.
50 yard gong, 100 yard clay pigeons and 150 target box. New gun never been shot savage 17 HMR. Shooting bench, lawn chair with cushion, sand bags front and back, little to no wind over our backs. Prefect shooting conditions.
She did the sight in all her self I told her how many clicks and which way.
She walked it in to center.
This is the first 10 shots out of the gun.
Her last 3 we shot at the target.
That's just under an inch at 150 yards out of a NEW gun.
We continued to shoot up the box of 50 shells.
She killed the clays one shot each the 25 on the Gong. She hit it like every time and said, Papa this is to easy...
She even shot the gong with my new 10mm. She does not like to shoot it, to loud and hurts her hands.
She did it and does not have to do it again.
I'm getting darn proficient at 50 yards with it and now I'm working at 100.
Picked up our stuff and a bag of other peoples crap. and 40 or 50 asst brass pickups.
Good day and she is back intime to take a nap.

ClapBig smile

Great way to spend a sick day.

That's very impressive shooting. especially for a new gun. It doesn't look like you will have to do anything to it. Cept' maybe lighten up the trigger.

They don't call her "Annie" for nothing.
