Looking atVX3 leopolds the yesterday,

All local stores are low ! I could'nt find what I wanted to look at but the guy at sportsmans wharhouse asked me to take a look at the new Nikkon Mnarch gold. As you might have guessed I told him I didn't want to buy a Japannese scope. But as he was puting it away I said what the hell i'll take a look.  It was a 1.5 X 6 by I think 42 with a 30mm tube. Guys this scope is realy really nice Frankly i would love one for my 35 whelen but it costs 500.00. I will not be buying one any time soon and probably never will but it sure was nice. I will say as nice as a VX3 and mabye even better, but it was 100.00 dollars moore so it should be.

I  am the Leupold king and It is sightly painfull to post this but I could must be honest .I would consider it for my Roberts but th30mm rings would be another 60 bucks.  If you are looking for a low power variable and can afford a half a grand on a scope You should look at one of these !

tj, you and I are on the same page.  I own to Nikon 3x9s.  Everything else is Leupold, and more than likely will always be Leupold.  As an engineer, I go after quality, so I don't get into the who made this and that debate.  If I were going to buy anything but a Leupold, it would be Nikon Monarch.

Y'all shoot straight!!!

I have a few more choices Moose, but I am in complete agreement w/you concerning the Nikon optics. They are Very, very good. I have 3 now and they are amazing.

the scope on my 480 is a nikon. my spotter is a nikon. my binocs are nikon.

i think nikon makes excellent glass. the reason i don't own more nikons, though, is because for the same money i could have a leupold. while it could be argued that one scope is better than the other optically, buying leupold means buying american, it means warranty work is not iffy, it means the scope is lighter, and it means the eye relief is better.

yes, nikon makes good glass. yeah, i think leupold is the better buy when you consider the entire package.

I have a Nikkon monarch 3X9 on my Model 70 30,06, It is indeed very nice , but no nicer than Leupold, and cost about the same. So I buy the american made product, 'll probably be buying a VX3 1.75 X 6  Heavy Duplex this pay day if I can find one !

TJ, I don't make them for a Ruger, sorry about that, but I may write a program if I get a set of Ruger rings to measure. I make them for about everything else though..............Kingpin

Tj3006,

Burris make the 30mm rings for the Ruger, check them out, or they also make Ruger to Weaver base adapters if you want another style of ring.
