Hey Ron,

What about a thread in the coffee corner for a book discussion.  I have been reading a lot lately since I no longer have an income to pay for entertainment.  Anyway, I have found a lot of fantastic books.  We could call it "The Book Shelf" or something witty like that.  Let me know what you think.

that's not a bad idea at all. i went ahead and made the new forum for it in the LIBRARY category. we'll give it a go and see if it sticks.

i would suggest that for each book/thread, the opening post should have the title, the author, the publication year etc. also perhaps a link to amazon or cheapbooks.com or something like that where folks could check it out.

I just wanted to say that I think we should keep the library for all books, not seperate them into catagories. Someone might be looking through the library and find a book with a genre they might otherwise not find.  A good example is, I never go to "big game" or "hunting" (yes, I DO know the purpose of this forum), but I will read the book reviews and I might expand my horizons from the review, or at the very least find something that would be a great present for someone else who does have a hunting interest.

Also, for the cookbooks, I think it would be great to post an overall review with a link where to purchase in the library, but save specific recipies for the cooking corner.  For the very reasons listed above.

Just my opinion.  What do you guys think?

Works fo me also.  Maybe making the ttopic the book title would help people search for what they want or see books they  already read.

I thought keeping the first paragraph having only:

Rating:  **** (one to four stars)

Title,  Author, Publisher and amazon or other purchase link.

Followed by paragraph (s) on your revciew .

Just my thoughts

I thought we sorta had a book topic a bit ago, unofficial of course....Tas, maybe you could find it and use it for a sort of startup of idea......it was just some of us telling of good books etc. I mean maybe bring that topic stuff over to the new site Library.......just for openers......

Another idea I had is to have a "discussion" once a month about a particular book.  For example, "Cheesy movies of the early 1980's".  Hhhmmm...  I could WRITE that book, I've seen them all!

Anyway, every month, someone different picks a title, everyone reads the book, and then a specific day, say the fourth thursday, the person who selected the book opens the discussion.

Just so you guys are clear, I am using you as my social life since I don't have one.  Mr. Chikee is gone all the time driving train, and well, I have a four-year old!

I think let ALL books run here.....each will be a new topic and the title may give a clue to books subject or make that a must for the subject line of a new topic. Anyway, if we can tell from the subject line we can choose which book reviews might interest us that way.  I don't know how many charactors are allowed in the subject line.

SUBJECT LINE ie: MILITARY      First word = Subject

First line in the post =

"AMERICAN SOLDIER"-by GEN. TOMMY FRANKS

1st word(s) =  Book title

2nd word(s) = Author

Then go on to the reivew etc

Just the view from my bookcase.....
