It is getting MUCH more expensive to shoot. I've not shot factory ammo in the last 60 years. Started reloading and kept it up, as a hobby. I really haven't done it for cost, although that was my reason for starting in 1960.
Present rifle trend for me is Winchester 348 in a model 71 Winchester. Well, looking for bullets, found some loaded ammo. $7.50 per cartridge

Lets see:
powder $1.44 bullet 1,66 Primer .45 brass 8.50 (if you don't pick up brass) $12.05 Well, you really need to hunt for that spent casing more that track deer!!!! I'm lucky, I have enough pre-pandemic bullets for my big boomers (except 348, which I consider a little boomer). I purchased 500 PPVI bullets for the 9.3x62 for $115. Now have a lifetime of Elk/griz/Lion/cape buffalo/elephant bullets!! LOL

From what I see in local shops reloading components have almost doubled in price.
I think it's because they saw people paying $200/1000 or more for primers and double or more for powder etc. People have proven they will pay the price so why not charge that price?
