Ok swede You got me goin on the 6.5 bore. I,ll probably lose the urge before I can aford to act on it but at least i,ll learn somthing along the way. Looking at the new Barnes manual I am impressed by the 6.5 by .284. With a 120 grain bullet it will shoot flat as my stw with a 160 and probably drop deer or antilope just as fast. I went to Midway and found 3 companies making brass. Norma Lapua and even Hornady. The Barnes manual showes about 200 fps more than the 260 (2inches more barrel ) I allways liked the .284 case. It holds about 9 grains more water thana 308. Compring max loads in the 284 to the 7mm08 they use around 6 or 7 more grains of powder. You probably need a 24 inch barrel to take advantage of it but it sure has me thinking, I like remingtons model 7 action alot. screw a 24 inch lightweight 6.5 by .284 barrel on it and I might sell my .308s NOT !! But it would sure be good rig and would probably group super as well as kill medium game. Darn you swede ! it,ll be on my mind for at least a few days ! Oh well gotta think about somthin I guess.
