I know it isn't the most desireable, but has anyone ever used a 1911 or other as a dual perpose and took it out hunting? What kind of results did you expect and/or get?

Stupid people are like a slinky, they don't serve much purpose in the world but they sure are fun to watch tumble down the stairs! |

nope, haven't done it. not legal here. since sd says the 223 is legal, but the 45 acp isn't, i have to think the 45 is way too underpowered for all but the most skilled - effectively ruling out most hunters. |

Hunting is not a matter of life or death; it is much more important than that.

I use them on grouse and rabbits, small game like that. Hardball ain't worth a damn on game, but a good semi wadcutter does a nice job. I suppose if I were REAL close to a deer, it would have enough poop to do the job. Generally, they are best used for social purposes, as was intended. |

My fathers dentist hunts with a 454 Cassul. One day however, he also had his 1911 with him. A 6pt walked up to about 15 feet and the 1911 got the nod. Dropped the buck in his tracks. You know, it all comes down to what we all fight about on the rifle board..... shot placment. Put the bullet where it's supposed to go, and pick up your deer.
