Bear, my dad has loaded his 308 to roughly 300 Savage velocities forever and taken lots of deer. IMR4895 and 150 pills. Not sure the charge weight but if I think of it, I will look tonight

Thanks Maple.  40 years ago I put together lots of light load info.  But, that was 10 computers ago, now lost in digital form.

load info welcome.

I'm not sure how fast 30-30's run but, the loads that we use at hunting camp in the Northeastern Wyoming not so long range open sighted super dooper smokepole target competition for the coveted traveling trophy, are between 11 and 13 grains of Unique with a little bit of Dacron as a filler.

I've never chronoed my loads but I hold maybe 2 inches higher at the 200 yard target than I hold at the 100 yard target.

Deaddog is very well versed in making light loads. If we could get him to check in here I'm sure he would have some ideas.

Bear,

When you get a light load worked out you should bring a pocket full of them to the Big Competition this year. I'm sure the trophy would look good on a shelf in your gun room for at least a year.
