OK it shoots good with commercial loads, now it's time to reload for whitetails. Loads please, don't forget mines a pumper gotta back off the max loads by 2 grains according to the book. Normally I wouldn't post a group like this but I was fairly impressed for a 50 year old rifle with a old yellow box of Winy's 100 gr silvertips. I threw an old steel tube Weaver 4x on it for now,but even with this group it would be fine for a woods rifle. Edited by Tikkabuck |

Someone here recommended H-414. My first loads were with BLC2, and now I am playing with H4831SC. |

Tikka ! H-414 works great in my ruger. The starting load is 42.5 and max is 46.5 that from the newest barnes manual. Thats with 100 grainers. Your group looks prety good. I would say better than a woods rifle ! at least 250 yards. Looking forward to more reports ...tj3006 |

Hey Tikka, I load mine with 33.5 grains of IMR 4064 and use 117 grain Sierra pro hunters. This is about the bottom of the Sierra book I have. It shows up to 42 grains of 4064. This was the first load I tried in a model 70 featherweight and it shot good enough I didnt try any other loads. As for all you speedy guys, I had this gun built for my daughter when she was 12 years old and she has shot 3 mule deer with it and they have all went down right where they stood. Hope this helps.
