Just picked up the 2004 book, and glanced at the article by
Toby Bridges "Evolution Of The Modern High Performance Muzzleloader"
I guess everybody is entitled to go to Hell after their own fashion, but I just
despise modern bolt actions masquerading as muzzleloaders. Why bother?
Couple of quotes:
"And, when loaded with the latest fodder, some of these not-so-old-fashioned frontloaders
will actually shoot as hard and accurately as some popular centerfire big-game hunting rifles."
Shoot hard? There's a term that belongs with the farmboys that check shotgun chokes with dimes,
and just "know" their 36 inch barreled "Long Tom" somehow shoots "harder" than those racey little short barreled guns.
"The round ball simply didn't cut it as a hunting projectile any longer."
Somebody must have forgotten to tell the game I've been killing over the years with the lowly roundball.
Other folks can use what they want...I'll stick with my flinters or side lock percussions. If I want centerfire proformance,
I'll hunt with centerfire rifles!
"...A moral compass needs a butt end.Whatever direction France is pointing-towards collaboration with Nazis, accomodation with communists,...we can go the other way with a quiet conscience"-O'Rourke

Triggerguard,.... I don't read none'a the "propaganda", thet Toby Bridges or, Sam Fadala, puts out in ther indorsements of the inlines. I reckon they've lost whatever apreciation they ever had for "history", so, now they'r "cater'n" to the "inline-crowd" (so's they can continue to sell ther books and "articles").

The "old muzzleguns" will kill a critter jest as "DEAD" today,.... as they did 200-300 years ago. I reckon it's the "mind-set" of today's "hunter" thets changed over the last few decades. Hunters in general, seem to be git'n lazy'er, and less efficent,.... and, expect ther modern rifleguns to make-up for ther "short-come'ns" as HUNTERS!!

Hell!!.. when I git TOO OLD to "hold-steady" with my heavy riflegun, or see tha "open sights",.... I'll admit thet it's "ME" thet's start'n to "FAIL",.... NOT THE RIFLEGUN!!

I'd very much enjoy "hunt'n", and "shoot'n", with the likes of you,.... but,.. I refuse to waste my time, even read'n 'bout, "hunt'n", and "shoot'n",.... from the likes'a  Bridges and Fadala,.. and, ther "new-found love-affairs with today's modern inlines and "gadgits"!!
