Ok, son and his 4 kids (6 total) are hopefully returning from 3 years in UK. He will ship one car back, but needs two cars. My Ford Explorer has 150k but in nice shape, so I'll give it to him. Yea, will have to give my local daughter something so he knows I love her just as much.
But, that will leave me with a void. I need a vehicle that can pull 6000#, and has 4WD. Pickup would work, but I like the dry/warm interior. So right now I think I need an SUV. a few years back, D45-70 got me into hunting with his concept of "surburban tent", so I'd like something I can sleep in and carry lots of 'stuff'. I mostly hunt alone so only need to sleep one short dude. Surburban and expedition, taho come quickly to mind. love my 31 MPG Explorer, but figure this will be my last vehichle, so the h3ll with mileage. What recommendations?

The guy on "CarProUSA" said the Sububern was the toughest SUV EVER made. Form him that is as good as you can get.
It's the way I feel too, but at $60,000 plus I have to go in a different direction. For that kind of $$$ you can get in to a Toyota land cruiser (USED) or a Land Rover Defender, both a life time vehicle. You liked the ford why not another one only newer? The GM version will be the same and the same price range, and power. They will all last you and me to the end of our driving career. DON'T get a DODGE product... The Honda big SUV is well rated but I think it is underpowered. You loving your Exploder so much as to trust it to your Kids I'd go ford. The Expedition I'm not a fan of, but I don't know why.

I have never bought a foreign car, and hope to not do so. Yep, Toyota is a top line vehicle; but I like to keep as much employment in the USA as possible for my grandkids. I know they will buy foreign just because it is 'cool'.

Hard to beat a Suburban. I am not a Ford fan either, but would buy one before I ever bought a Chrysler product. I am in agreement with the foreign vehicle concept with you Bear. No thanks, I know others will but I will try to refrain. The problem with the new ones is all the bells and whistles that are not needed. I have a 2018 Chevy 1500 Realtree LTZ. I love it, but alot of fancy stuff that is not needed for hunting and running traps.

My neighbor lady begs to differ! She's totaled quite a few of them. Just beats the hell out of them and none have ever made it passed 50k miles. She's had two stuck in trees.....one was vertical! Get an H2 hummer Bear. Think small house living on a suburban drivetrain. Sure you can only afford enough gas to make it to it's final destination, but it has that boxy tacti-cool look to it. Downside is you have to grow a neck beard and start carrying an AR and Glick!

Haven't made them since 2010.
I had an H3 hummer delux, got 175,000 when the frame rusted completely thru! Sounds like your Lady Friend doen't have a car problem, just a driving problem she needs a bucket truck with tree prune.

I have always been a Chevrolet guy. Then, in 2012 my wife wanted an F-150. This vehicle turned me around. It is a lot better quality than my 2003 1500 and the 2007 Tahoe we traded in for the F-150.
I think I would look at an Expedition. The only down side to that for me is I don't think you can still get it with the V8. I think they all have the Ecoboost V6 Turbo engine. I would prefer a non turbo V8. Wing master

Think about that Bear. Their might be more benefits to that 3 people front seat.
When you take the little lady to town for a nice dinner, On the way home she just might slide over next to you. Think cruising main street in high school. Just a thought. Wing master

LOL
![]() Doubt I could cruise for high school girls...probably get 3-5 years for that at my age...and that could be a life sentence. Actually thinking, if taking wife and son's family out that is 8 people. BUT, 3 weks ago I was talking to a 25 year old guy, and explaining ALL the extra benefits from those old bench seats! I actually ordered a 1969 Hurst Olds with a bench seat (when bucket seats were first cool). Loved those benefits.
