Interesting read on fish migrations. Seldom does one think of smallmouth bass as 'a bad fish'.

YUP!
MONTANA in the past have planted them in many rivers and streams. Large mouth in a lot of ponds.
Now I think there a blessing anything but trout.
But a large part of the fishing world disagrees with me. WALLEYE another blunder.
Anytime you introduce a predator something else has to suffer. Can you say wolf?
Most the time once the Jeanie is out of the bottle it's out to stay.
Eastern brook trout out competed our native cut trout. Now we spend millions of dollars trying to poison them and put in fish blocks and reintroduce cuts. Never works well.

In history we have never gotten rid of an invasive species.  don't know why we even try???

Here in PA the german brown trout has taken over all our brook trout streams.

A club I belong to has an 8 ac pond.  originally stocked it with trout; and bluegills for the kids.  Bluegills took over quick.  Then the same genius that put the bluegills in added walleyes to eat the bluegills.  Result no trout, and stll lots of bluegills and a few very large walleyes.

the Game and Fish here is going to kill everything in Saratoga lake this September because someone introduced Yellow Perch and they are eating the trout. That happens somewhere in Wyoming every few years.

Personally I'd rather eat Perch than Trout.

Never understood the stupid folks that introduce 'stuff'.  Do they have a desire to be F & G???

I don't get it either Bear. I assume it happens when someone buys minnows for bait at one lake and uses them in another lake. Maybe this happens by mistake but Wyoming has very strict rules on this. I can't imagine how it could be an accident.

That's not always the case. Our local city lake gets killed off every 5 or so years because the goldfish start taking over.

Who would go to a pet shop and buy Goldfish and dump them into the city lake?

I'm sure you're exactly right D.

I thought that's the other reason to have a toilet in the bathroom?

I didn't think about goldfish as bait.

The city lake here has rainbow trout. I'm thinking worms would be better.
