I've seen this happen before, but never have seen it caught on tape. Ouch! Some dud is taking target practice with his buddies. They set up a target hundreds of feet away. On the second shot he hits his target so perfectly that it richochets the bullet right back at them. If you turn up the volume a little you can actually hear the bullet wizz by the camera striking his buddy in the stomach |

How much damage did it do from that range? What caliber was it? I have been hit on ricochettes while shooting steel at 5 meters. Dead hits too. A little cut and the possibility of picking jacket metal out a few months down the road............Kingpin

Way back when I was a young teenager my friends and I used to go to the town dump and shoot rats/feral cats, etc.. One time I saw a an object I took for a box about 150 yards away. Told my friend to watch me nail that "box" with my custom 7.65mm Argentine Mauser. At the shot the bullet ricocheted back at us hitting the Black Oak tree between us. We went down to see what I had hit and it was an old television picture tube. Learned us to make darned sure of our target BEFORE touching off one. Lawdog

Put my reaction in the column with "it is staged" kids need something to do. I didn't see a hole in the shirt either. Maybe Dr. Cyril Wecht has a theory on the magic bullet that bounces back and then penetrates the thread fibers in a microscopic way and then reforms into a solid bullet and hits a person 180 degrees behind the target. Beam me up Scotty Remember it is Sunday and this is the internet....not mass. BEAR |

King, Look careful at the end of the video clip, it's a AR! Personally I think it's a long way to that plate and back but who knows. If you turn it up you can here the thing come back... interesting. Spot |

A few years ago I was at an indoor pistol range that is about a mile from my house. There was a group of 6 people (me included) standing inside the range getting instructions on rules of the range... oh and shooting is still going on by other members, which was fine. While we were standing there, one guy yells. We look done and there is a deformed .45 ACP bullet sitting on the ground next to this guys ankle... which is starting to trickle a little blood. Just a good scratch, although I'm sure he had a bruise later. But that bullet richocheted off the back of the range (25 yards) and came back hitting another person in the leg. I've gone back to that range a couple of times, but I've never been too comfortable going back. BEAR, by the way, it's the same range where BEARCUB is a member. |

Moose I've been to that range. if I remember it was about to be sold. Nice place to shoot and was only minutes from BearCubs crib. I don't doubt that things ricochet, but the distance and the lack of a hole in the shirt, and the fact that this is on BigBoys on the internet makes me suspicious! FMJ shot at metal targets will bounce back and it is possible, but unlikely to be caught on film. How many of you guys video tape your range sessions????? BEAR |

Bear, I've video taped some shooting sessions. At least I did until a riccochet came back at the camcorder. Amazingly the fragment went through the lense without breaking it, scrambled up the internals, and then exited through the viewfinder. Good thing it was on a tripod and no one was looking through it at the time.

It didn't look like the bullet(or fragment there of) penetrated. It looks like it bounced off the guy leaving what looks like the equivalent of a blood bruise(welt). Whatever someone needs to make sure of their backstop. Lawdog

once years ago I was shooting up in angeles crest out of L.A.,,,shooting a new service/45 colt,,,lowered my head because of glare off a soda can and cut one loose. That 255gr. lead slug came back from a big rock in the dirt bank that wasn't seen,,,and plowed my skull from the hair-line to the lump that I got from a cheater bar that slipped off a chain-binder at the back of the top of my melon and left a sliver of lead under the scalp......I was out for about 5 minutes,,,myPALS were still laughing when I came to.......good thing I lowered my gourd from the glare!!!!
