Fella's;
Moved the Weaver V-9 off the Savage MKII .22. It really wasn't the scope for it anyway, not being parallax corrected to 50 yards. That may have been a contributing reason as to why the accuracy wasn't up to par with some of my other .22's also.
Since I didn't want to dump a ton of money into it, I went with the Tasco 2.5 X 10 A/O mil-dot in Natchez at $56.00. Beware, by the time I paid S&H, the cost was up to $66.00. I like Midways fees & e-mail notification service much better. In any case, this is a Red Chinese scope. Didn't say that in the catalogue though.
It has some obvious plus and minus points about the entire package. There are enough leftover glue globs in the objective bell A/O housing to have built a good-sized model airplane. The lens cover elastic cords pulled out of the caps right away. The mil-dots appear to be etched on glass, not wires or hairs, this is good. The glass has some flare, blue, but really is good considering the price. The A/O seems to be consistent.
I haven't checked for repeatability on the elevation & windage, but it took about 87 UP clicks to get it on target at 25 yards. The adjustment knobe are easy to use, no coin needed.
Had a hell of a time getting it mounted. The advertised objective is 42mm, and that's probably correct. However, the overall bell diameter is 55mm. I had to get a Weaver T-10 adapter base to put on the grooved receiver. Then, instead of being able to use Weaver rings, I had to put tip-off rings on the adapter. Why? The Weaver recoil slots (only 2) in the T-10 base were not where they needed to be in order to mount the scope where I wanted it. Going to the high tip-off rings on the adapter got the scope up high enough & allowed the placement I wanted.
It the gun shoots to be worth it, I may have more recoil slots machined into the adapter & then buy a set of Weaver rings. Just so's you know the Weaver part #'s for matte high ring set is 49-050 & the extra high matte is 49-080.
Weaver Optics no longer is the provider of Weaver bases. Weaver bases are now handled by Outers Inc. telephone # (800)635-7656.
