I ordered LEE 90359 .452 DIAMETER 300 GRAIN 2-CAVITY BULLET MOLD C452-300-RF $35 Free freight on eBay.
I also ordered Weigand Combat Scope Mount Compatible with Ruger Blackhawk scope mount for my red dot. I have 150 pounds of bullet lead from a range to cast, It's hard lead, and gas checks. Red dot powder, green dot, 2400 and CCI large pistol primers, and 180 once fired brass, asst headstamps. It looks like in a week or two I'll have target pictures. ![]() |

I'm looking forward to seeing the targets.
Are you going to hunt with cast bullets?

We have about that much 99% lead too. I use it for lead TT shot. We will have to get some antimony now . We cast 9mm's too and jig heads and decoy weights.

I did some more testing!
I got the dot on and went to shoot. NICE. Shooting factory loads 255 gr cowboy loads. Shooting at 25 yards off a bench. After zeroing it the boy and I where getting very nice 4 to 5 inch 6 shot groups. I put the acp cylinder in and shot several different loads, all shot well but non shot as wall as the full length colt loads. PS My fix on the 6mm scope bases worked out GREAT. back to sup 1 inch at 200 yards with the Pdog loads, 55 gr varmageddon's Nosler 55 gr , 4200 fps. The new Burris works great on the 8mm. One group with 220 sierras ( 3100 fps rl26) at 100 was 5/8". ![]() |

That slight difference in bore diameter will degrade the accuracy. The ACP rounds with the 451 head "rattle" a bit in a 454 barrel.

That's what we found, VERY little cost difference between the two when you reload and cast.

OK
I have a load that I can shoot comfortable and hit a 7" plate at 25 yards, constantly. My 300 gr gas checked cast, It should be going out of the 5.5" barrel at 1200 fps. I'm using my heliographic red dot it's about 1.5" over the bore. It is zeroed at 75 feet, with the stated plate, not paper but it was 20 shot all hitting the plate. Anyway I want to shoot deer ( and hogs one day). I want to use it to 100 yards, what would the drop be? How much energy would be left? What would be the penetration of a hard cast 300 gr out there? All new stuff to me. |

That's way above my head but I gotta say that's pretty impressive.
That big hunk of lead has to be packing qiute a wallop.

I went out today with new Hogue grips, and the gong. With my 303 gr hard cast bullets with a copper gas check and powder coat sized to .452 and Winchester w-296 someplace close to 1200 fps or a bit more.
I'm getting about 2 to 2.5" at 30 yards. I shot off my hunting sticks I use with my rifle, sitting down. At 15 yards I'm center punching clay pigeons with little to no aim point adjustments, up or down, standing off hand. I have only shot 85 shells so far through the gun, will it improve like a rifle? I plan to shoot deer with it at some point but would sight it into 100 yards for that. For now, it's steel, gophers, and coyotes. What do you think I can expect out at 100 yards? ![]() |

That's impressive.
I'm thinking that even at 100 yards it will hit a deer as hard as a Suburban at 55 mph
