My Ford has silver metal spoked rims.  they have an orange/brown on them.  It comes of with lots of finger scrubing with Scoth pad and cleaners.

Any easy spray on product that would take it off without harming the new tires?  less scrub!

I think one guy here has cleaned over 4 million wheels!

It's getting harder to find, but any wheel cleaner that has Hydroflouric acid as the main ingredient is the best wheel cleaner I have ever seen. Spray it on and wash it off.

I saved a 5 gallon container of a cleaner that I haven't seen for several years. It was sold as a cleaner for car wash walls. I dont remember the percentage of Hydroflouric but it was high. Like over 90% high. It will make wheels or car wash walls look like new.

As far as something that you can buy at an auto parts store they are pretty weak but Mcguires makes good products.

One more thing to think about is that Hydroflouric acid on aluminum wheels creates Hydrogen gas. I've never had a problem using it on aluminum but I wouldn't burn candles for light right up close to the wheel.

Local trucking company has big fancy smancy trucks and the drivers like to keep them purty. Same as Wing said on this one. Floric is an evil critter at anything over 10% or so. At 50%, a spill on concrete will foam up and give off hydrocarbons. Strips aluminum rims clean and turns them a pretty white. Buffer and some rouge and you are back to a bright polished rim. Just remember to wax them well afterward. Can find the stuff at any industrial chemical store. A gallon should last a lifetime and has to be cut down like you are filling a battery........carefully!!!!

That said, oven cleaner works from what I hear. But that is with a guess that the rubber was not on the rim when it was done.

D

I don't know about guns and wheels, but I rode in your suburban one year at MYGAWDS and I specifically remember the inside was spotless.

Maybe I exagerated the percent but the stuff we clean walls with will bubble up and eat concrete like JSG said.

It does clean brake dust and anything else off of wheels.

I have used muriatic acid on block and poured walls. Removes scale with ease. I would imagine the fluoric would strip about anything.

Another lifetime ago, I was brought in with a crew to strip an acid tank of crystal buildup. Took a 12.5k psi power sprayer to it. 1 inch away from walls and slow moving. Those crystals would fly off and slice you like glass. Was my first real experience with that end of physics. Sure the job sucked, but it was an interesting experience. I have a curious mind.
