If you don't know if it's certified the forest ranger or whoever probably won't either.

Nice

I didn't think about lights. As early as it gets dark in the winter months I'm sure they will come in handy.

What is the engine noise level? Like a lawnmower maybe? Do you need ear protection to drive? The horn will have to be louder than that to be effective. I'd think anyone could hear the engine noise long before they see you making an horn a suplerious item!
In AZ they require an audible device for ATV's used on roads along with lights/brakes. It can be a whistle, bicycle horn (squeeze rubber bulb type), canned air horn or even an electric horn. Just so it's loud 'nuff to be heard over machine noise.

The motor Is not as loud as my lawnmower.
Is it under the 84 decibels to require hearing protection???
The dog is kinda quiet going over dirt, gavel is a different story. But that is track noise, it does have carbide cleats that are about 3" apart covering the track.
PS, the Forest service trails manager said I could not run it in a stage 1 fire or over do to the spark possibility from them. That make sense.
I'm getting two motor cycle E horns.
Sound like I have to get inspected and get a Sheriffs tittle after I get a VIN #.
Then the fees start I bet it will a few hundred bucks to get my toy papered up.Ouch
But it's a one time thing.
After all this then I have to talk them in to a snowmobile pass too.Confused

Is all that so you can get a trail permit? That sounds more like what it takes to drive it on the street/highway. Kinda like a home made car.

To run forest service trail with a trail permit it has to be registered. I need to do all that to be registered.
Same with a snowmobile on snow trails or snowed in forest service roads. Still may not be able to get it "Licensed" to go on any state, county, or municipal roads. BLM number roads are not considered public roads or trail I can run on them as it is now, no registration needed.Confused
I could leave it but many BLM roads and trails pass though state land then I would be blocked.Ouch

I finished all my little projects on the dog I wanted to finish before the Pre inspection to get a vin # then a final inspection if all goes as planned.
I have some stuff to do in the AM on Monday then I'll take the dog to the police station with the first round of paper work and see if they have the "time" do it. I put it on a trailer so I do not have to put it all together for them to look at it.
I now have
Brakes.
Brake lights.
All the time forward facing head lights.
All the time rear facing tail lights.
A 84 decibel electric horn.
I can use hand signals for turns.
I'm old enough not to need a helmet.
No seat belts or air bags.
Wish we luck.Confused

That is a lot to have to do to be legal off road. It will all be worth it though.

Very neat paint job & scheme. Nice touch with with coyote pics & tracks. I have same brand battery in lawnmowers. Did you use "rattle can" paint?
If you get jammed up over cleated track with authorities Could U replace with all rubber track???

I used a spray gun for the base gray and rattle can the highlights.
I made my own templates for the tracks and coyote pic.
If I could find a rubber track the right width and length with 11" cogs.

Well Dang.
 I got a VIN#.
NOW I'm attempting to get an appointment for a VIN inspection. I had to go to the local DMV license services to get a Phone # to get and appointment set up. I called the number, I get a recording I leave my name and call back # , the recording said it my take 48 hours to get back to schedule an appointment.
They have to watch me affix the vin# ,with my own tools, to the dog then sign off a form. Then I have to have it inspected again by any law enforcement officer. With there form I then have to go to the County treasurer and apply for a title, there is always a Fee for each step...
But I two steps along the road to being a Registered vehicle.
