Minestrone alla Genovese

Ingredients, amounts for 4 people:

beans 300 g
runner beans 200 g
3 potatoes
2 carrots
peas 200 g
1 small onion
1 clove of garlic
1 piece of celery
2 tomatoes
5 zucchini
4 spoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 cup of parmesan cheese
1 cup of pesto
broken spaghetti-pasta 150 g

Bring two litres of water to the boil in a large pot. Salt and add the shelled beans, the peeled and squeezed tomatoes, a whole potato and all the other vegetables cut into pieces.
Add the oil and allow to boil for about two hours. Remove the potato and mash it to make the soup thicker, throw in the pasta and, just before cooking is over, add the pesto, diluting a small quantity in a little soup.
Mix well and serve the soup after adding parmesan or a stronger cheese.
