Fished Key West for 3 days with friend Kim Taylor.  2 days in Atlantic, one in Gulf.  Caught sailfish, bonito, sharks, cobia, grouper, snapper, barracuda.  Had some big hammerhead behind boat, btu they were not interested in baits.
  Later, we snorkeled the reef.

great place to visit and fish.  usually do a few days there every year.  I prefer the reef side, but have done the ocean as well.  lots of cats and chickens roaming around.

Could do without the guys opinching my butt.  lots of good places to eat too.

Looks like you had a great time...eat any of your catch?

Bear, besides keeping some bonito for bait, we kept only one cobia for eating.  The grouper were out of season, the snapper were too small, and all the sharks and sailfish had to be released.

Released several black-tip sharks, hooked one big spinner shark that jumped and spun repeatedly.  He ended up tail-wrapped and then biting through the line, like they usually do.

Hope to have some snorkeling shots in a week or so.

Looking forward to the snorkeling shots.  Did you take the float plane trip down to Fort Jefferson?  Nice view of large sharks going down and Good snorkeling place.

I always enjoy visit to Hemingway house/Little White house and  original hemingway bar.

Lots of 5-6 toed cats.

The black tipped sharks taste good.  for fishing fun, I can't beat the baracuda.... they jump and run.  Only fish that ever burned out a reel on me.

I usually rent a 22 foot CC boat and fish the northside of the reef for 'cuda and sharks.

Nice place to walk around and enjoy a hand wrapped cigar and some brandy.  I still visit Mel Fischer's place...but dont' buy andy of their gold.  Two days maybe 3 then I'm usually back to sugarloaf or Marathon.  I love the everglades and usually work a boar hunt or 2 or 3 into a trip.

Got me a new 9.3 that needs to be tested.  Might go down in early June before the winged angels come out, and get some snook fishing in with a boar on the side.

Did you just get back?

Been back a week.   The tourists were thick, especially on Mallory Square at sunset.  Mornings were good for seeing Duvall Street and area without the hassle  Had a beer for breakfast at Sloppy Joe's and saw the bagpiper and the sunset at Mallory Square in the evening. We didn't take the floatplane, just used one of the big catamarans loaded with morning snorkelers--once we got in the water, we seldom saw the others.  We got six nights in the captain's cabana for "free" with buying 3 full day charters.

This guy does some pig hunting in FL.  Haven't ever hunted with him, but he does have access to some big stuff:

This is the boat charter we used:

Wow!  Great pictures, thanks for posting them!  Closest to Key West I've ever been is Orlando.  I have no great desire to return, not even if I were given a free turn on the Harry Potter ride.  I did enjoy Jimmy Buffet's place, but the number one eating establishment was the Taverna Opa!  Really had fun there!

I see the pic of Sloppy Joe's bar.  In reality it is not the original Sloppy Joe's bar that Hemingway frequented.  the real bar is  Called Captain Tony's and is a few blocks away.  Seems someone sold the name and moved  it to a bigger location for tourists to visit.

I like to take friends on visits to Tony's and also show them the urinal that Hemingway bought when the bar closed for $2.  Some say he stole it, one of those 1920s floor to chest height models.  He carried it home on his shoulders (the legion goes) drunk.  His wife #? was trying to spend every penny he had on her dream house and was putting in the only in ground swimming pool in Key west.  So Ernest had the concrete guy cement the urinal into the pool are on its side, so his cats would have a place to drink the water that flows into the pool area.  IIRC the quote that Hemingway said was "this is a million dollar urinal, because I alone pissed that much booze down it"!

Sloppy's or the Tony's bar was the bar that Hemingway used for  Freddie's bar in the movie/book  To have and Have not; although there was a Sloppy Joe's café in Cuba.  everyone should remember Lauren Bacall in that move....wow what an 18 year old dish!

In January, I spent 10 days in Key West and Marathon.  Fishing was poor, but lots of iguanas  everywhere.  also lots of people and new buildings...not the olde key west of the 60s.  caught a couple of sharks and lady fish.
