My neighbor has a Hawthorn tree and lets me pick them.
It's takes about 10 pounds hips to get around 6 cups of juice. I freeze them first to brake up there cell structure, then simmer them for about 3 hours, mashing them gently as they cook down. There seeds have cyanide in them so you don't want to brake them up. Then I put the Mash in to a jelly bag and let it drip all night, occasionally squeezing the bag. When that is finished I filter it again with a much finer bag to get more of the solids out. It still looks milky and yellow. That's the juice ready to cook. Gummies I use gelatin and sugar cooked and molded in silicon gummy molds, it turns a pail pink and clear, or I add some coloring. Jelly is just sugar and Leamon juice no pectin it has it's own, but takes a week or so to set.
It is a brain and heart booster. Lowers blood presser and help slow aging of the brain.
It also has a very unique flavor that is very good indeed.ClapBig smile

What the hell.  I've never heard of Hawthorn chips.  Kind of like rose hips?
Nice, but lots of work.  I can relate to that with  apple pie filling, applesauce, and dehydrated apple chips that I just finished with.  But, we know it's not about saving money, it's all about taste and the satisfaction of doing it yourself.  Just like gardening and maybe reloading too.

Bear are you back in the USSR I mean USA?
I have made the jelly before and every one including my self Love it. The gummies are just a easy way to get the effects of the tree.
I have IBS I think but since the Hawthorn gummies It is sooo much better. I have no ides if the gummies are helping or if it is a Placebo affect. Let me know how the store bought ones work and taste.
