D thought you would like to know that in  Maine A bear trapping permit and a trapping license are required to set a trap for a bear during the annual bear trapping season (September 1 - October 31). You are allowed to take one bear by trapping and one bear by hunting annually.  So 2 bears, that mean lots of sardines!

No snares in NY. Bear trapping would be exciting, but you would be stuck with a smaller bear, hard to let them go.

Isn't that kinda what a "Cable restraint" does?
we do have to have brake away that a deer could pull apart.
For wolf we have to attend special classes.

Our loops can't be less than 8" (so deer's foot doesn't  get held, and yep a 375# or less break-away.  only foxes and 'otes can be target of cables.
