I'm thinking of getting this?

?????????
Nope.
I was not aware we need flairs.
We have noise devices.
One is a compressed air horn. The other is the fox pro, it has a "HELP" message, a "caution" massage, as well as a "fire truck siren" massage.
We do have flairs on the boats, but never knew we needed them.
They make great fire starters.
Why do you need to keep buying them bear?

Most states have adopted the CG cost guard standards.  I'm not in fed waters, you maybe????

but NY requires I meet the Cg regs.   The county sherrif is our LEO and they follow boats to check, esp on weekends.   getting tired of shlt.  I have 40+ 12 ga flares on board, but they are expiredd.  still work but Olin Mat says only 2 years.

Looks like good idea bear to use the gizmo in your link as long as you check the batteries to be sure they are still "good". Of course you will have new spares handy on the boat.Wink

Well, I bought it.
Will tape a few extra batteries to it; and stow it in the cabin...and forget it and flares.

Awaiting the next LEO boat inspection.   Now all I have to do is check the fire extinguishers, yep got two on board!  belt and suspenders guy~

I use to have a compressed air horn.  got too complicated, and the kids would wear down the canister...and my nerves.

Now I have a plastic (no rustL whistle  that hangs on my destroyer style SS wheel with nylon rope...no maintaince.
