Manlicher style stocks are rare, but popular in Europe. Sometimes called Full Stocks, they derived from military rifles.
People seem to either love or hate them. CZ recently discontinued FS stocked rifles for the US. I love the manliche style rifle stocks, and have 2 CZ FS full stocks. Wish some one would make a clasic bolt, blued, walnut in a full stock. Thoughts?

I really like full stock rifles.
I should have bought a CZ when they were available. Wing master

I had ive--two MS carbines, a 6.5 Dutch with a commercial fullstock, an sporterized Argentine 7x57, and a 6.5x257 Arisaka; loved all five for the requisite time and then traded them. None of them seemed to be doomed to creep when warmed by consecutive shots; all were heavier than they needed to be, but they all attracted attention at the range or in the field. I've always been drawn to the Hemingway/Ruark safari-type adventures (at least reading about them) so they filled a niche in my imagination. Nowadays I'd think a MS with a duffle-cut stock would draw my wallet out just as quick; same gun with a half-pound less forestock would carry better in my old age.

My carry rifle is a Kimber, 5# without scope. But my 9.3x62 CZ Full Stock (8+#)seems better to carry in the field.

Most military rifles had covered barels, they get hot in combat. Only with Matel did the forend get plastic or tin covering.

I think some of them look nice, but they don't seem to be very practical as a hunting rifle. I have several "pretty" rifles that I don't take hunting because I'm afraid of banging them up. A pretty wood stocked Mannlicher would just add to the collection of non-users.

I use them all. that is what they wee made for...and what I bought them for. Being careful in the woods limits any damage. got some that look like new.
Last year bought my first plastic stocked rifle, 783 Rem in 7 mag. camo stock is nice cut; whole rifle is heavy.....but I will try to 'like' it. Still will take my walnut beauties out for a few days in the woods. My double rifle never sees rain or snow.

I try not to abuse my firearms but they are made/bought to be used and with as much care as possible under hunting conditions. Waterfowl hunting is one place I don't take a walnut/steel shotgun anymore. Too much moisture involved to really protect a wood/steel firearm.........hence this is where the synthetic stocks and camo on metal parts help at least with the exterior cosmetics. Still need to "deep" clean when hunting time is over for them.
