We had rain yeseday and high temps in the am, then it dropped down into the teens and all changed to snow.  Still snowing and temp is 14.

Today is the last day of flintlock season; and not worth going hunting in this weather.  Since 5 am I've been working at the 'puter in front of a large window.  At first light I spotted 4 deer bed down in my yard, 45 foot from the window.  been there all night from the thick coating of snow on them.

Every 2 hours or so they get up and shake off snow and ice.  After stretching their legs, they lay down in the same beds.  This is exactly what I expected for deer in this weather.  No movement.

Thought of going out on the deck and chasing them off....but I didn't want to stress them in this weather.

The weather has been really frustrating here too. Cold with snow now it's 36* with snow.

At least our hunting season was pretty nice.

You could always chase 3 of them off with your flintlock and field dress the other one.

3 hours after my post with the sun out, still very cold, a perfect 8 point appeared.  with my 10x binoc it was beautiful, about 65 foot from the window.  It was watching a small doe (yearling) that must have come into heat.  Off they ran, crossed the  highway and nearly ran into two cars.  Sex can get a guy in deep shit!
