Snow goggles
You think some thing like this would let us vision impaired old farts keep our noses and face covered up and not fog our glasses? For the price it kinda looks like an easy fix. I have suffered many hours in pain in the cold trying to keep my glasses clear to shoot. I just never given a thought about ski goggles , maybe something that a "Freezer" worker would use. They look a little small but I have small frame glasses, and a smallish head and face. Please no jokes about the head size. Have any of you tried them for hunting ? |

I too wear glasses and have tried ski goggles. The problem for me was they fogged up worse than without them. Maybe I made the wrong choice of size or brand. Hopefully they will work for you. Let us know. |

My goggles were made for skiing; so they have vents
that let ram air in to keep moisture flowing out. when standing I usually lower them to my throat, of face. There are a number of anti-fog liquid coatings for what you want. anti-fog-cleaner/? gclid=CISvhrXggdECFZmIswodyzkAyQ">http://www.kleervu.co m/product-category/kleervu-anti-fog-cleaner/? gclid=CISvhrXggdECFZmIswodyzkAyQ Edited by BEAR |

I don't know if it would work for these, but the
snorkeling and scuba guys polish their goggles with tooth paste to keep them from fogging up. I have a buddy that swears by it. Wing master |

I actually have a set of those for snowboarding! Best bang for the buck for winter sports. No goggles work well with rifles unless you have really tall rings and mounts to accommodate the cheek weld. They also close the gap between the scope and impact surface on your face. You never really think much about how close the scope gets to you when holding it snug and firing, but that distance is close and it rattles you well enough to make follow up shots fairly difficult. I swear by the Oakley's as they are face contoured to follow the cheek bone. Marines have taken them on as part of their gear now in the sand of the desert. Cuts glare and they do not interfere with any movements of the weapons systems. The semi-wraparound design cuts down direct wind but allows just enough for flow which helps eliminate the sweat of desert battlefields and tearing from the winds. I prefer the M-frame design myself, but for those who feel the gloss coating may give away their position, the mil coatings are great as well.
I'm with you on the old spit in the mask routine, still works the best. |

After a few trips out calling...
The goggles seem to be the answer for me. There not fogging on the walk out, or back. They don't fog as I'm hyper ventilating heart thumping as the coyote rushes in . They don't seem to bother me shooting , in fact my shooting muffs tend to interfere more then the eye wear. I have not tried them in heavy snow or -30* but so far I gota give them a dbl thumbs up |

Try this to keep the mask fog down. Take some straight
dish detergent, any brand will do, dampen a type of cloth that will not scratch the clear surface and apply a thin film of the detergent to the inside surface. Using a clean dry piece of cloth wipe the thin film until it "mostly" disappears. This will "help" reduce the fogging factor but you have to remember nothing really works 100%. Really, anything that "makes water wetter" and reduces beading on surfaces ought to work. I agree with Bear, ventilation works. Onest upon a time SCUBA use was some of the equipment I used regularly for work and recreation. No, not military. Well looky here, a second opinion: http://www.bing.com/videos/search? q=how+to+keep+ski+goggles+from+fogging&view=detail&mid=3 1B172C525388DCC443331B172C525388DCC4433&FORM=VIRE |

d if you are referring to the second opinion
video......warm room...warm breath...warm goggles.....light fogging set up. At -32 degrees, which some complete idiots insist on hunting in,...very cold room...very cold goggles....warm body moisture condenses on surfaces very well. Sometimes when trying to fog my glasses in my home to wipe them clean I have to get a lens almost all the way inside my mouth to deposit a usable fog on it. Hmmmmmm, what might work is a miniature version of those rear car window heater wire configurations embedded in the lens material. Make a neat row of 1/16" drill holes on each side of the goggles....what bear said. Well looky here.....my BS heater was pretty close. http://www.airsoftstation.com/g-g-anti-fog-turbo-goggle- fan-kit/ Now that's one tiny fan. I'm having second thoughts about -32 air blowing on your eyeballs. You might want to think that one through first. Do you ever think about how comfortable it is to sit beside the wood stove with hot coffee, hot buttered toast and a plate of scrambled eggs at -10? I guess you'd do that just waiting for it to drop to -32. After all this...Have you ever considered contacts? Or do they crack apart at unGodly low temperatures? Edited by samchap |

Contacts don't work well in cold, especially if it's also windy. Because of the lack of humidity, you can't keep them from drying out and sticking, at least that's been my experience.

I'm taking a pair of ski Googles, but suspect they will
fog. It is my breath getting into the lenses that causes the fogging. Maybe I could hold my breath? |
