HAPPPY CAMPERHOOD
Fella’s; I went to the Weapon’s Collector’s banquet last night with my family & friends. I’m a member of course. We had the choice of prime rib or some sort of fish – and there’s no payout if you can figure out which one I took. I took a couple of guns for the show & tell, I mean, that’s more-or-less what the purpose of the organization is. We sponsor about 98% of the gun shows statewide after all. I was a little disappointed that more firearms weren’t brought, but there were extenuating circumstances. We had the banquet in an operating bar. It’s strictly illegal to have weapons in a bar, but we were in the banquet room that was separate & no liquor was served in that room. So, I can understand why people might have been shy about bringing their guns. Nonetheless, it’s Montana & I wasn’t worried as there’s still some common sense to be found here. And we weren’t raided either. After the meal, which was quite nice, door prizes were drawn. I won! I got a Springfield armory hat. I don’t know what it sells for, but hats seem to be going for about twelve to twenty dollars hereabouts depending on how popular the graphics are. Since I don’t happen to possess a Springfield anything, I then traded it for a Vortex hat because I do have a Vortex monocular. Score! I so seldom win anything that I’m simply overjoyed to get the hat. Furthermore, I haven’t been in the Montana Weapons Collector’s Society very long, and that little win was just about right. More prizes got drawn, I’m clapping for the winners and am sipping on a whiskey ditch, feeling pretty good and not paying close attention to the proceedings. Lo And Behold!! People start looking at me & clapping & a few are giving me disgusted looks. I won the fifty-buck gift certificate at a local big-box sporting goods store! And then the final grand prize door prize gets pulled & my friend & neighbor wins the grand door prize of a hundred bucks at the same place. Wow! Today we went to the emporium to see how we might spend our winnings. Hey! The place has got everything in the store on 10% sale. I got two CZ 10 round .22 magazines & paid a whopping $3.96 outta my own pocket. So yes, I am a happy camper. 900F Edited by CB900F |
