Fella's; After quite the little adventure, see "Woe", it's here! The CZ was finally obtained from the heavily brown dork-driver of UPS by my FFL. I then took ahold of it earlier today. It's also a mini-Mauser action, and a lot tighter one than the Zastava I have. But, sweetness! It came with a set of CZ rings to fit the Euro-dovetail in the receiver. I slapped the new Nikon 4-12 A/O BDC on it & it clears the bolt handle easily. In fact, I may look for a little lower set of rings. But it looks gooooood. The wood isn't as fancy as the Zastava, but it's nice. This CZ is just a better job of work all the way around. Better machining, tighter tolerances, the finish on the stock is superior, etc., etc.. I also prefer the detachable magazine. For a walking varminter it just makes sense. I can change out a detachable mag a lot quicker than I can refill a blind magazine. We'll have to see how it shoots, but that's gonna be awhile. I'm on call this weekend & next weekend opens fall bear season. Then antelope opens October 7th, with more to come shortly after that. 900F

Nice! Was putting together a wishlist and thought someday down the road a CZ oughtta be in my gunsafe, just 'cause. Ironically enough a 223 seemed to be the caliber to use in a walking sporter configuration for varmints. |

Okay, I'm a little late in posting on this but have you had a chance to get in behind that little rifle and wring it out? |

OK; I've done some range work with it, but not much. So far, it's decently accurate, but that's without having had the chance to do any load work-up for this particular gun. I'm having an issue with the single-set trigger. It seem to me to be too light. I've had the gun go off when closing the bolt in a speedy fashion. That's not a good thing. I'm given to understand that the problem is easily corrected, but I just haven't had time to get to it. I could do that today. What with a foot of snow on the ground, see the thread "Weather Report", I'm not going to the range, bear hunting, or much else today. Excepting snow shoveling - joy. 900F |
