Seems  we all have a go-to gun.  Just grab it for any occasion.

Mine is an 870 Remington pump 12 ga  3".  I have a QD scope mounted on it so I can use it for deer, boar, pheasants and ducks.  The barrel is 22" with a Poly-choke.

Had it for 30+ years, bought is new 'on-sale' at a big box store.  no regrets.

what do you folks use for your go-to?

Anything requiring shot It's the 870 supper express 30" barrel extra full choke 12 gauge.
If it requires a bullet I'll make the junkyard 6mm rem work.

My 870 was a SP  (special Price) model.  wood finish was really bad, stripped it and did oil finish.  presentable.

My go to as far as a shotgun is an 870 Wingmaster. Its an oldder model made in the mid 70's. It only shoots 2 3/4 shells but it shoots them real good.

For a rifle I really like my Swede, but right now if I was going to grab a rifle that I could rely on 100% no matter what I would grab my Remington 700 mountain rifle in .308. That rifle is super accurate with the loads I worked up for it and I have killed a lot of animals with it over the last several years. Everything from prairie dogs to elk.

Wing master
I have always considered myself to be quite the bullshitter, But ocasionally it is nice to sit back and listen to a true professional......So, Carry on.

870 wingmaster, rode hard and put away wet, early 80s model, 22" polychoke and 30" FC. Polychoked barrel is off mid 70s 870, that I shot to death, with way too hot of reloads.

270wsm #70, first year they came out, replaced 300wm, that I had shot out. 270wsm is mostly shot out, but I still most always grab it as backup.

My go to shotgun is an old 1987 1st run Rem M1187.
On my 2nd mag spring cap and 3rd set of rings.
Still fits like an old glove!

Ordered it for skeet gun with the tournament grade stock.
But also performs well at sporting clays and 5-stand.
Have hunted quail, doves, and over decoys ducks and geese.

870 for a grab n go if the handgun isn't reachable or the situation requires it...range or accuracy wise. Depending on the distance, 7mm or the 10, inside 200 and absolutely needs to drop, 375. All are quickly accessed and ready to go. Have an 870 with an 18" barrel and 3" BBx4, open choke and no insert. Sucker still patterns tight to 25yds.
...oh yeah! thats gonna hurt!
