Thanks for sharing, Tikka! I LOVE going to church! It renews my spirit, and gives me peace. The fellowship is great, and have you EVER noticed that when you are having a problem, that God uses the serman and speaks right to you? I participate in a ladies Bible study through my church, too and I love what I have learned through it. I also help with the Sunday morning children's ministries and it's a blast because I get to work with the kids. And if anyone is ever looking for a manual on life, God provided us with one through the Bible. BTW, I hope that gentleman took his wife out to dinner after calculating how much she has cooked for her!

I agree, and that may sound funny coming from a guy studing to be a pastor, but I find the act of going to church is more of a sign/form of worship. I go to spend time with like minded people. I spend so much time in the world at work and in my ministery field. (bikers) That it's nice to get together with other beleivers and just spend time in the word and singing praises. It builds me up, and renues my spirit. I to don't remember every word Pastor has to say, but I do remember the word says: My word will not return void. MM |

i should add that the sermons are the second reason - i of course don't remember them word-for-word, but i often find that a sermon touches on something in my own life, and i get a little bit of udnerstanding hearing it in that context!

i have little use for "organized" religion, but fellowship is the main reason i go to church.

This has been posted before (probably by me ), but worth posting again.
Why go to Church? If you're spiritually alive, you're going to love this! If you're spiritually dead, you won't want to read it. If you're spiritually curious, there is still hope! Why Go To Church? A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all." This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: "I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this.. They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!" When you are DOWN to nothing... God is UP to something! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible! Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment! All right, now that you're done reading, send it on! I think everyone should read this! "When Satan is knocking at your door, simply say, "Jesus, could you get that for me?" |
