From the Brownell's product reviews page for Hornady V-Max Bullets:

"these were way to light for the two guns i was shooting. from a g2 contender with a 15inch custom shop barrel at 65yds they shot 8inches high. from a 10in compensated original contender at 65yds im still looking for where they hit. the load was for a 30 herrett with 21grs of imr4227. i give it 1 star for the pretty red tip at the end of the bullet. these were recomended loads from hornaday and T/C."

Would you recommend this product to a friend? No
(Hmmm, I wonder why my rear sight has a screw in the middle of it? Furthermore, I wonder why they put those little caps on my scope tube. Wish these damn bullets didn't shoot so high.)

You would have thought a Brownell's customer would have been a little more sophisticated?????

I wonder what he is shooting?? with 30 cal 110 gr Vmax.

He seems to complain that they are made for the 30 Herret???  WOW, I thought I was the only one shooting varmints with a 30 Herret?  Now, I find out there is a whole lot of us and the bullet manufacturer are catering to us.

Sorry, thing is some morons will read this and badmouth Hornady!  They shoot too flat.Confused

Bear when hornady first came out with the 110 gr vmax I thought it would be neat to load some up for my 06. Got them loaded and sighted and went out to a praire dog town. it was very fun. I was trying to get a dog at about 325 yds but he kept popping up and down just as I would get on him and about to pull the trigger he would duck back down. While I was working on him I caught movement in the left edge if my scope, pulled over and it was a dog about 75 yds away in his hole. All I could see of him was from the shoulders up, I held right where his body met the ground and let her rip. His head went up about 20 to 25 ft in the air according to my nephew and his friend, and sucked the body out and sent it 30 steps down range. It was a thing of beauty. I got the one at 325 yds too. He landed about 10 steps out of his hole and we couldn't find any guts from the fella just hide and bones.

The way I shot this year with my deer I'm thinking of taking the 06 PD hunting more this year. It's a lot of fun

PS I love the hornady v-max bullet. Use it in my .223 too.

Millrond, yep the 30 cal v-max is good explosive bullet.  I shoot some in my 308 and 30-40.  I use to shoot the the 130grain for deer, in 30 cal Herrett but since I got me a 375 contender, that has been the deer hog gun.

This dude has a t/c contender G@.  Those are not suitable for a '06 or a 308.  So me must be shooting a 30 carbine or a 30-30.  Both of which are not too different than the 30 Herrett. His brain doesn't fit either.  Doesn't know to adjust sights and thinks the bullets are made for a specific round.

Been reloading for the herret for about 35 years, nice gun and the old saying, "it has the same energy at 100 yards as a 44 mag at the muzzle" is impressive for a pistol.

If he is trying to differentiate between a 30 Herrett and his 30-30 in a T?C contender..not much difference unless he has a 14-16 inch barrel.

I make my 30 Herrett cases from 30-30 brass; in my 10 inch barrel they out perform the 30-30 which is large capacity.  In the 14 inch barrel the 30-30 and the 30 herret are about equal; but with the larger barrel volume to use the extra powder the 30-30 is 200 fps faster than the Herrett.  So I really don't under stand his problem, even given that he doesn't know sights are adjustable???

I've used the Herrett and the v-max on groundhogs (weight 6-18 pounds) like a BIG P'dog.  Best was when I lined two up (one at 56 yards and the second at 85)  got them both with a 130 grain Hornady SSSP.  some luck involved.
