Rifle season here and mid 50's. The deer don't move til late. I've seen 2 deer in 4 days. All in the last 15 mins of legal shooting light.

Everything here is moving early morning,rut in full swing and they are laying down when the temps go up. Yesterday saw to many does to count and one really pretty 8 point about 30 yards from me,maybe a 2 1/2 year old he'll be good in a couple. Today I had 3 does pop out and eat for about 20 mins,then they started looking over their shoulder and here come the fright train,big body ugly rack tall tall tall,but inside his ears and points everywhere. He chased them girls all over but never would slow down and give me a shot,would have liked to get him out of the gene pool.

Well finally cooled down some,in the morning.wind at 20 mph. Same thing as yesterday,hope this last's at least one more day I love the rut,even if I have to just sit and watch. But this morning one of the culls popped out and was after a doe,the land owner is addiment (sp?) you see a cull take it if you can. Oh well I need the meat and a place to hunt so I popped him through the heart with a PR 195 gr over 2 - 777 pellets and down he crashed. Wish I had some pretty pic's but it ain't thataway back here,oh it's purtty enough with all the foliage changing. He weighed 120 dressed.

Were about at the end of our first season and the weather is finaaly coming down. Went out today and lots of does moving,not many bucks few little ones here and there just really spotty.
Only reason I'm posting this one is because today was a special day for me in the woods. I decided it was time to take out the rifle that my Jeremy was halfway through putting together before he past away and I finished up for him. He worked on this stock like a champ,sand sand and sand somemore, till he got it the way he wanted it and then started hand rubbing in the oil. I felt alot of honor and a little pride I guess when I pulled the trigger and the buck just fell out of the scope,it was about a 150 yard shot through some really tite woods,kinda like threading a needle.
I'm so impressed when I hear you guys talk about the stalks and the long shots you make sucessfully out west but todays shot really made me think,all of us hunters from all over deal with different types of obticals (ya ya I can't spell)
140 gr Sierra GK over some 4350 from the 270 wsm and that was that. Optics Burris Signature Select 3x10x40
2 Pictures mostly so ya can see his stock.

Tikka, Very nice stock work. Really neat figure in a nice piece of wood. I'm kind of partial to those lighter colors. Jeremy definitely knew what he was doing when he refinished it. I'm sure this will be a hunt to remember. May it bring a little more healing and peace. Rockydog

high here yesterday was 28 degrees. wind 15-30 mph 2 1/2 inches of wet snow.
I hunted on the top of the mountain, whole body is wind burn. Saw and could have shot a spike and a doe, passed. Drove back after no sleep on Friday night, got in at 9pm exhausted. Great day.
Buddies hunted local and got two 8 points (minimum allowed here).

Fella's;
Yup, it's the 6th of December and the date's got a higher number than the temperature. The bank sign said 2. Tonight's low is expected to be -25. Think I'll bring in some wood this afternoon. Maybe lay in a supply of hot chocolate & peppermint schnapps for the girls & another gallon or two of Knob Creek for me.
