This wolf was shot recently in Drayton Valley , Alberta.which is near Edmonton about 3 hours North of Calgary.  The wolf weighed over 230 lbs smashing the previous record of 175 lbs.  Wouldn't want to run into this puppy in the woods.
Apparently a bear hunter witnessed this wolf chase of a big black bear at his baiting station.

The guys in pretty good shape, if he can hold 230lb wolf, with his arms straight out at shoulder level, like that.  I would say it's photo shopped or guy is standing behind wolf, that is hung up, to make it look bigger.  Tail also looks too short.

I don't know. The wolf definitely has a shot in the spine. And the guy seems to be leaning backwards hugging it to his chest. In my younger days I could have done this, no problem, even at 230 pounds. Also note the plant trapped between his gloves and the wolf, Looks like the stuff on the ground in the photo. Wish there was something of size in the photo for reference. RD

Photo shopped.  But I wish it was real.

If you look you can see the tag end of the rope coming out from the gloves.  Also the neck has what appears to be a rope mark/groove that is from the other end of the rope.  That neck rope was then removed from the pic.

Also if you look at the bottom-center of the pic you will see a shadowy image (artifact) from the original photo.

OK. Are these guys photo shopping their hunts for product sales? Guess it wouldn't be a first....

Note different photo, different angle.

well at $60 a bucket ($30/gallon) of butcher shop/slaughter house garbage, I'd photo shot anything!!!!!

It certainly is a different picture, the lower artifact is gone now.  So too is the tag of the rope.  Actually two new photos.

I took the tag of the rope to be a weed pulled out by the roots as they were trying to pick the wolf up. Supposedly this was published in a magazine and featured on Canadian Television too. on sites across the net the opinions run about 50% for photoshop. RD

Looks fake.  But they do get big.

Well, if it real then they would surely have it mounted!  I doubt we will see a picture of this animal mounted on their site.  Worth checking in 6 months.  A mount this size would be a BIG asset to their business.  Any taxidermist would volunteer a free mount on such an outstanding animal, if he could put a brass plaque on the mount advertising his service.
