if anyone has any recent (not latest) editions of manuals and wants to get rid of them, let me know. my dad only has lee's first book (the red one) and i was hoping to get two or three more to show him that cross-checking is a good thing.

I have hornady's and lee's latest, plus the lyman 47th. speer or sierra or any other would be good if anyone has a fairly recent one that needs a good home!

hehe... i made it to the gunshop today to inquire about stuff. counter jockey tells me primers are difficult to get as are, strangely enough, reloading manuals. he seemed serious...

if you can dig up a speer #13, i think you will find it to be the most representative of real world loads. i have not had an opportunity to peruse #14 yet, but #13 is my go-to book.

it's a crazy world - i've bought nearly 2000 primers this week and am going to get one hundred more today!

i'll see if i can locate a #13 - that's the one with the ram's skull on cover, IIRC?

I have a Lyman one laying around here somewhere. I think it is the 46th or 47th edition. I have calibers that aren't in it, and just use IMR's online info, and Hornady's manual. Let me see if I can dig it up for ya.

Taz;

Package on the way.

I'll confirm that the Speer #13 is the one with the sheep skull.  Speer #13 and Hornady #6 are the two you really want.  They both use real world guns for load development, not test barrels to minimum SAAMI specs.

NH - i appreciate your looking! i am currently reading it for the 3rd time and am going to make sure dad reads it when i am finished. lots of good info there.

CB - thx for the package. i do have hornady's 7th and it seems to be alright - might ahve to do a side-by-side comparison with the 6th! BTW, i will be going through your humble village next wednesday and returning friday - if there is time i will stop at the shop for q quick hello and chat - if the wife will let me!

 My Hodgdon #26 is worth to me what all my other manuals combined are. The only downfall there are some newer powders not in there. There are a couple on ebay as we speak.

Taz;

The major difference between Hornady #6 & #7 is that the 6th is a two volume set.  The second volume is exclusively for data mining.  It's ballistics tables, wind drift tables, and an illustrated glossary, stuff like that.

I have a Sierra manual (I'll have to check the version) that I'm not using and a Speer #11 if either would help.
