what is your opinion on fast rust on trucks.
what brand rusts out fastest? or better yet, what brand avoids rust longer?

We don't have rust in Montana.
Ford truck have an all aluminum body??? My 2013 has no rust yet is all I can say. My Old Suburban was a 94 and when we went deer hunting in it ... Still no rust after 300,000 miles and 20 plus years. I don't even know anyone that has a Ram.

I hear chevy owners nickname their trucks 'Olde Rusty".
Only the Ford F150 has an aluminum body and that is only since 2015. But the frame is steel and steel rusts. Bet most trucks taken off the road todaay are for frame rust-out, not body rust. I'd like an aluminum frame vehicle. but the Land Rover Discovery, is a little highter $ than I want to spend.

They have actually improved steel body styles over the years. Had a '75 RamCharger that rusted out in 3 years so much you could reach your whole arm into touch the rear wheel.

I have the aluminum bodied F-150, 2016 vs. Body is still perfect as well as the undercarriage so far. The brine they spray here will rust out all frames and suspension in a matter of a few years without some type of upkeep. Wifes last jeep was perfect body wise except for some scratches on the hood from her "snow removal" with a shovel.....blonde. k-frame and all undercarriage was all but non-existent. Cost more to fix and replace then to get another...it was 5 years old. Tranny fluid in a garden sprayer every spring after a good and thorough scrubbing is the ticket.

I have great insurance. So far not a scratch on it and no dents either. As far as I can tell the aluminum seems to have less flex and a thicker feel then the old thin sheet metal. Reason the bodywork initially was so expensive was the different tools required to fix the dents. My insurance covers bodywork as OEM panels and doors so no worries. It is 1500 pounds lighter then the 2015 model made of steel. Add to that the 375hp 5.0 coyote v-8 vs the older 280hp 5.4, a lot more crap and zap on the throttle. Seems dumping gabian sized rocks in it puts holes into it.....hmmmm. It did that on my old F-150 and the Chevy 1500 before it as well. I don't act stupid and dump heavy crap in the bed like that anymore, my 16' flatbed takes that abuse.

I know a guy that has an older Chevrolet that is just starting to rust a little. It runs like a scalded dog though.
Seriously, My next door neighbor has a 2002 Chevrolet with about 6 inches of rust around the wheel wells. It also has holes in the rocker panels. I have a 2003 Chevrolet that I don't drive in the winter. It isn't rusted at all, but the $h!t Chevrolet paint is coming off of the roof and hood really bad. The thing is that until the last 3 years it was always stored inside all winter and really not driven much in the summer. In 2012 my wife got a F-150. She does park it in the garage but she drives it winter and summer. but she doesn't drive it all that much. It only has 25,000 miles on it. It still looks like new. Top and bottom. They don't use as much salt here as they do east of here but they do use more than I would like. Wing master

I drive a 1993 Dodge W250 with Cummins. It was driven 8 years in Connecticut before we moved here, did take it to the carwash and hose off the bottom after a snowstorm melted off but did not undercoat it. I think they may have zinc-dipped the bodies before painting, it isn't rusted much anywhere ( have not seen a rusty AMC Eagle either ).

Nash = Rambler= Aerican Motors= Amc Lots of name changes, same quality!

I think I remember a 1966 Ambassador with seats like that, and a 287 motor so smooth that it was hard to hear at idle. There was a second one whose motor was not as nice.
The 232 sixes had 7 main bearings and took awhile to wear out if the oil was changed regularly. There was a camshaft lubrication problem if oil was left in too long...
