I posted pics of the cracks in my boat and i riveted patches over those cracks with Sikaflex a few weeks ago. I took her out for a test on Saturday afternoon and no water seemed to leak in. There was some water in the boat from where i rinsed the dirt out that had been laying in it but it didnt seem to fill up anymore than what was already in there. The old Johnson motor fired right up after 3 pulls on the cord and i havent touched it since last July. I think for safety though i may go over a few of the boat rivets with a hammer and steel block to tighten them up a little as im sure it wouldnt hurt. Any suggestions for me as to what else i can do with my boat?

If you can sue McDonalds for getting you fat then why can't you sue the alcohol companies for all the ugly people you ended up sleeping with?

Gary, Gary,Gary,

I think of you like Job in the bible.  I think we have been with you thru a truck repair, a winch repair, Johnson outboard repair, and the repair on the Queen Mary.  I thought I had lots of old shit that broke.LOL

"

I have a dinosaur johnson 15hp outboard motor that has never let me down. The problem im having is that as im trolling along it will sometimes almost want to stall so i gotta rev it like hell to keep it going and then its fine for another 20 mins or so. The carb is fine and i replaced the small fuel pump so they aint the problem. What i was told though that the connectors that connect to the gas tank and motor have some kind of seals in them that wear out after time and then air gets in and buggers up the fuel flow. I feel this is the problem as the bulb on the gas hose that you squeeze doesnt stay hard and i have to keep squeezing it every so often to build the pressure up again so i tend to think that the air is leaking cause the seals are shot. Hopefully thats all the problem is. Any suggestions?

Gary"

Bear.......... If it wasnt for you telling me about Sikaflex i may not of fixed my boat by now so i do thank you for that. The motors running great. Only complaint i have is i use a tie down strap for the lid on the outboard as the rubber gasket or seal is gone and it rattles like a bugger. Is there anything i can substitute for a seal as they told me at the marina that the seal is obsolete on my model?

You can get cork gasket material, comes in sheet about 1/9 inch.  Cut to fit just like the olde mottor can gaskets.  Might take a couple of cutting to get one to fit perfect.

What I'm really waiting for  is that big fishing trip you take with all the repaired stuff...an everything works and you catch a fish...and the girl friend is smiling.

PS be sure and grease the trailer bearingsWink
