I know what it is, just wondered what people thought.

I think the FIVE thing isn't good.  Not symetrical, so I doubt it would center a bullet as good as say a 6 groove barrel.  wonder why no 6R barrels around???

That's interesting. This is the first I've heard of it. I guess I need to get out more.

The article makes sense to me but I can also see your point Bear. I do like the part about it cleaning better. The almost 90 degree corner in the lands seems like it would be hard to get copper out of.

I have a Model of 1917 (P-17) that has a 2 groove barrel. I have never shot it, but I never have heard of them not being accurate as far as military rifles go.

It does seem to me that if you have more lands touching the bullet that you would get a more positive grip on the bullet and a better spin on it. I have nothing to back this up, but it makes sense in my mind.

Well the sharp rifling would seem to grab the bullet sharper, where the %R rifling MIGHT let it slip  a little.

I've shot llots of 2 groove rifling in comp with 03A3s.  No scope, mil sling so not precision, but they seemed to be fine.

5R is the hot ad  feature any longer.

I agree Bear. I sorta wonder if it's like some of the "new" calibers that have come out in the last several years. Not really much better than the old stuff but something new to sell.

JSG,

I've never heard of those either. I really do need to get out more.
