Hi TIKKA.  Hope all's going well.  And hoping this rifle will be "bad" on the rockchucks as well. 

NH, reconfirmed that the tapered Leupold base we got gives 20MOA.  With the inserts used in the Burris Signature rings, that's another 10MOA, or so.  Add these to the adjustments the SS scope has and simply reaching in excess of 2000 yds. will be easy.  Actually hitting something at that range, that's another story yet to be written.

Thanks 6BITS.  Sounds like your elk catcher's a thumper.  I really like how Holland muzzle brakes manage the recoil of my harder hitting big game rifles.  Any more, I have one installed on all things that have an uncomfortable zing to it.

Worked up my fireforming loads yesterday.  COL with the 300 gr. Sierra MK is 4.060" seated just off then lands.  With the slight difference in nose profile of the 300 gr. Wildcat ULD, COL should be around 4.090" to the lands.  Middle one's a factory case ready to fire.  Left one's finished product with the 35* conventional shoulder.  Right one's my favorite (did I say that    ) .270 Win. handload for perspective :

On the brake issue, I don't think it'd be needed from a comfort standpoint, necessarily.  I like it moreso to keep the gun in position after trigger pull.  As you're well aware, it don't take much to pull ya off target and if that target's 1000+ yds. out there, I don't want to spend any time having to reaquire it.  I want to be right there for a quick second shot opportunity.  On a much lesser point, I'm not going to lie to ya, appearance wise, I think a brake on the end of a big gun looks good.  This 1.350" diameter straight barrel'd have a very different look to it (and the overall appearance of the gun) if the brake was not there.  It looks right to me for some reason.

I also like what the fireforming does to the WBY case.  I've never been a fan of that double radius thing so any steps taken to get rid of that is a positive in my opinion.

The stock is their Tooley MBR.  Nice, wide 3" forend that settles perfectly in the rest and 14 1/2" LOP.  Rifle is up at the shop now.  I'll get some other pics of it today and post tonight.

Mr. Marcus, how's balmy BC?  Took a little trip across the boarder a couple weeks ago and spent the weekend in Calgary.  Had fun.   The zoo, olympic park, banff, shopping (the wife, primarily).  Met lots of nice folks up there.  Just a small cross-section of the country for sure, but all in all, I was impressed.  Except for that darn metric system ya got going.  I'll need to make several more trips across the line before I ever get used to that  .  I see MAX 100 on speed limit signs and am ready to open things up as the wife calmly reminds me just how fast I need to be going    .  I am happy to report no run in's with the law so I musta toed the straight'n narrow pretty well.

No idea about the A- stocks.  I went with the Tooley because I'd had the opportunity to handle and shoot with one that 50 had used on one of his rifles.  I really liked it and after the frustrating fiasco with the laminated stock that I was originally going to use for the project, I figured I'd not waste any more time and go with what I should have ordered in the first place.  I wanted it big'n heavy, real stable in the bags and this stock seemed to be just about as big as they came, short of those dedicated for the BMG class cartridge.

When I first saw it, I thought, my lord, it's red.  More so then I thought it would be and with the SS barrel, it really stood out.  In efforts to bring out the darker maroon color, 50 suggested the teflon coating for everything metal.  It spruced everything up and I really like what it did to the colors of the stock.  The fella that did the coating somehow misplaced the recoil lug and found it after the process was done, sending everything back the beautiful black except the lug.  I didn't mind the look at all when I first saw the rifle together but was still considering having it sent back just to have everything a uniform color.  Not going to do it, though.  Once a load's developed, I'm certainly not going to have it taken apart for that little piece.
